Choosing the Best Bike for You

There are thousands of different bikes out there and for me something important to know is how to choose the right fitting bike for you! I am even having trouble picking out a bike!

There are so many things to think about when buying a bike, here are some to think about…

  • What size bike do you need?
  • Are you going to buy new or 2nd hand?
  • How much are you willing to spend?
  • Where are you going to buy your bike from?
  • Do you want a hardtail or a full suspension?
  • Do you want a single speed or other
  • What do you want to do? Downhill, XC, free-ride…
  • Unicycle… Oh wait thats Carter’s department! http://carterh10.wordpress.com

Choosing a bike can be a joy for one person, but new-bees can be bewildered by how many options there are.

Here are a few brands of bikes that I like.

Rocky Mountain, BMC, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale and Scott.

I have a question for my fellow followers:

I am trying to decide on a bike. I have four to choose from, a Rocky Mountain, BMC,  Cannondale and a Trek. Here are the pictures of the bikes.

Just leave a comment about the bike you like the most and the bike with the most comments wins!

I will comment on December 30, 2011 to tell you what bike won!

Emma, i think that the BMC is the nicest bike for sure but it is probable the most expensive also. If you were thinking a lot about the price then the best would probable be the trek, as you said in your post their is a lot to consider when you are in the market for a new bike!!!

All of your tips are great. You mention there are different bikes for different purposes. What purposes do each of the four bikes you profile serve. For example, is the Rocky Mountain best for downhill, XC, freeride, etc?
