Georgia Gould

Georgia Gould is a XC mountain biker! Georgia was born on  January 5, 1980 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband Dusty, and their 28 bikes! Georgia used to be a smoker, she decided to quit and find a new hobby! That is where she found XC mountain biking!

Here is a picture of her!

Georgia is the current USA cross-country mountain bike national champion. She started biking in 1999. In 2004 she moved into the professional ranks and discovered cyclocross! Georgia and her husband, Dusty, drove to all of the 2005 NORBA National Mountain Bike Series races. She was always finishing top ten, in races which put her in 9th place  in both the short track and cross-country series. That fall she earned her first podium finish at a national-level race at the USGP of Cyclocross!

Georgia has lots of “ambitious” goals and here are some of them!

She hopes to keep her national mountain bike title, to become a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Long Team, to win a World Cup mountain bike race, and to earn a medal at the 2011 MTB World Championships!

In 2006 Georgia signed a sponsorship deal with the LUNA Women’s Mountain Bike Team and ended the year with a surprising win at the U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships.  In 2008 she stood on the podium at four World Cup races and represented the USA at the Beijing Olympics, finishing 8th.

She enters the 2011 season ranked 10th in the world and as the defending champion of both the U.S. Pro Cross Country Tour and the U.S. Grand Prix of Cyclocross. For the coming year Georgia will compete for the Luna Pro Team as she has since 2006, and will race the UCI World Cup mountain bike series and the U.S. Pro XC Tour.

Here is my works cited.

Well done. I always enjoy learning about impressive athletes, and she certainly qualifies as one. She started biking in 1999? I’m guessing she was a mountain biking enthusiast even before then, and competed in amateur races, beginning in 1999, before she qualified, or felt competitive enough to go professional. Is that correct?

You mentioned she’s ranked #10 in the world. Who are the top riders?

Another great post. Keep it up.
